Fluorescence correction for activity measurement of 93mNb in niobium dosimeters: Calculation and experimental validation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Niobium is a dosimeter used to characterize fast-neutron reaction rates monitor nuclear reactor vessels. Its characterization based on the activity of 93m Nb resulting from 93 Nb(n,n’) activation reaction. The decay results mainly in emission niobium K X-rays which are determine Nb. Direct measurement using X-ray spectrometry does not require any sample preparation, but fluorescence effects, due impurities activated during irradiation, must be taken into account. Indeed, some these radioactive impurities, particular 182 Ta, and other isotopes remain present measurements disturb spectra. effect induces additional that alone, leads an overestimation activity, especially if expected shortly after end irradiation. It therefore necessary assess contribution effects provide accurate values activity. Fluorescence correction factors were established by Monte Carlo simulation. calculated validated experimental approach, dosimeters with different tantalum concentrations.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Diffusion measurement in ferrous infused gel dosimeters

Background: The compositions of Ferrous sulphate, Agarose and Xylenol orange dye (FAX) and Ferrous sulphate, Gelatin and Xylenol orange dye (FGX) in solution of distilled water and sulphuric acid are two tissue-equivalent gel dosimeters. Ionizing radiation causes oxidation of Fe2+ ion to Fe3+ ions which diffuse through the gel matrix and blur the image of absorbed dose over a period of hours af...

Calculation of the Scattered Radiation Profile in 64 Slice CT Scanners Using Experimental Measurement

Introduction: One of the most important parameters in x-ray CT imaging is the noise induced by detected scattered radiation. The detected scattered radiation is completely dependent on the scanner geometry as well as size, shape and material of the scanned object. The magnitude and spatial distribution of the scattered radiation in x-ray CT should be quantified for development of robust scatter...

Calculation of Correction Factors for Dosimeters Thermoluminescent of Lithium Fluoride (LiF-100) for Use in 6MV Photon Beams

Since the beginning of its use, radiation has already presented harm, justifying the necessity of controlled use. In order to monitor its effects and even avoid them, dosimetry has arisen. For the purpose of ensured all the necessary safety and monitor areas where there is radiation use, a lot of devices able to identify and quantify many types of radiation were developed. However, some these d...
